WFF Scholarships
We began to award scholarships to disadvantage girls in Malampa secondary schools in 2019, expanding to include advanced colleges, Universities and Vocational instiutions.
Our approach is to invite applications from students who meet our scholarship criteria. We aim to support students who: are in Year 11 and are in the top quartile in terms of their academic achievements to date, have demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to both school and community and are at risk of not continuing their education by virtue of poverty or difficult family circumstances.
In collaboration with the schools, our staff convene a qualified selection panel to hold formal interviews with candidates. This give girls the opportunity to talk about themselves, their personal circumstances, and most importantly their aspirations and ambitions.
Following interviews the panel will discuss candidates and agree on their recommendations which is then submitted to the Foundation Board for approval. Once approved, written confirmation is provided to the School, and arrangements made to provide the agreed financial support. We cover all school fees and boarding costs not met by the Vanuatu Government, and subject to a satisfactory annual report, the Foundation will continue that level of support through the scholars remaining years in Secondary School, and Tertiary or Vocational training as per current policy which is funding dependant.
Ou hope and expectation is that individuals will want to pursue careers or their own future ambitions, we will continue to support them to realise their full potential.
